The Center
The main task of the Center for Molecular Transformations is to provide its members with a platform within which they can develop and coordinate their interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary research interests. The CMT serves to network the disciplines within RWTH Aachen University as well as with external research institutions, industrial partners, project sponsors and funding agencies.
The Scientific Integration Team of the CMT supports the chairs of chemistry, biology, biotechnology, process engineering and other disciplines in the preparation, conception, preparing and submission of project applications - from individual projects to national and international joint projects. The involvement in numerous working groups and networks makes it possible to bring together consortia with optimal bundling of competencies.
By combining scientific expertise with project management skills, the Center for Molecular Transformations has the ideal prerequisites to successfully acquire and handle large, coordinated third-party funded projects. In addition to the application phase, the team is therefore often involved in the administration of ongoing projects. In particular, this includes the function as a central communication office as well as the coordination of deadlines and meetings.
The focus is on interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary cooperation in the research areas of chemistry, biology, biotechnology, process engineering, and beyond, with the aim of understanding, predicting, controlling and technically implementing molecular transformations. The close connection with the profile area Molecular Science and Engineering, the networking with the profile area Energy, Chemical and Process Engineering and the collaboration with other complementary disciplines offer great potential for future-oriented research projects.
