Specialization and Responsibilities
Marc Schmitz received his M.Sc. degree in chemistry from RWTH Aachen University by the end of 2012. For his doctoral studies at the Institute of Technical and Macromolecular Chemistry, he joined the groups of Prof. Dr. Walter Leitner and Prof. Dr. Jürgen Klankermayer, where he focused on the utilization of CO2 as C1-building block for the formation of carboxylic acids and hydrocarbons.
From the end of 2016 to the end of 2018, after finishing his doctorate, he was coordinator of the profile area Molecular Science and Engineering at the RWTH Aachen University and part of the joint project Carbon2Chem®. Since November 2018, he is involved in the Kopernikus projekt Power-to-X.
